“A Home for Healing Hearts” Campaign is the community’s investment
in a beautiful, adaptable facility to serve thousands of grieving children
and their families.
Ele's Place is the only nonprofit in Ann Arbor and the surrounding region, dedicated solely to helping children and teens work with and through grief. Unfortunately, the need for our services will never go away. Unresolved grief negatively affects our children and teens, contributing to alarming rates of depression, addiction and violence.
1 in 20 children will experience the death of a parent.
1 in 5 children will experience the death of someone close to them by age 18.
In Washtenaw County alone, 4,500 children could potentially benefit from the services of Ele's Place Ann Arbor. However, due to the current space limitations at our rented facility, we have stopped promoting our critical programs as we simply cannot accommodate all the families who need our services.

Ele's Place Impact
Current number of children on our waiting list every month
Programming can only happen 3 days a week due to facility constraints
Operating in a church limits access to families who prefer a secular setting
12 hours each week are spent transporting programming supplies
In our new home will be a place where children and teens can truly express themselves
The permanence, freedom and flexibility our new home brings will allow FOUR weeknights of programming, as well as the introduction of innovative weekend programs
Meet Our Campaign Co-Chairs
Sue Snyder, Michigan’s First Lady and Campaign Co-Chair
“Ele’s Place found a place in my heart the day I attended a breakfast eight years ago. The loss of a parent, sibling or loved one is devastating to children and they need to be surrounded by compassionate support programs. The services Ele’s Place provides to grieving children and families make a profound difference and I am honored as Michigan’s First Lady to support such a tremendous organization and the work they do on behalf of Michiganders across our state.”
Howdy Holmes, CEO of Jiffy Mixes and Campaign Co-Chair
“Ever since I first heard about Ele’s Place there has been a soft place in my heart for their mission. When Ele’s Place got started in Ann Arbor, I always thought they needed their own home. With the recent purchase of land, the opportunity is just around the corner. I am excited to be a part of this worthy project.”
